Okay, so the whole “bad things come in threes” didn’t really work for me this time, since I just received the fourth rejection in a row. But that’s okay. Really.
I received a 26 day rejection from Chizine http://www.chizine.com/ for my 100 word drabble, “Lost Little Girl.”
The reason it is okay is because it was one of those elusive “good” rejections that offered great advice. The advice was that I take what I was calling a flash fiction story and restructure it into a poem, and marketing it that way might help.
Also, the editor remembered me from a previous rejection where he told me to keep them in mind for my future work. He restated this offer and told me to mention it in the cover letter next time.
Pretty cool. I’d love to break into this market.
I saw this market this morning and bookmarked it. I might send one of my shorts over to them when I’m done tweaking.
I think being invited to resubmit twice sounds promising.
ChiZine is a good market and it sounds like they are impressed with your writing, so it is probably only a matter of time with them.
I’ve never tried writing a drabble. Only heard of it recently. Sounds quite hard to me.
I have yet to get any other rejection than a form, but yours sounds promising. I’m sure you will break into this market soon.
Yeah, I hope to get into this market; they are pretty good.
The editor sounds like a great person to work with. Terrific feedback there. GOOD LUCK! I know the breakthrough will come soon.
