Well, it looks like the editors of many magazines are cleaning out the old slush piles for the holiday weekend.
I received a 30-day rejection from Weird Tales, and a 32-day rejection (for two flash pieces) from The Pedestal Magazine.
I resubmitted a couple of stories this weekend too. Trying to keep the stories flowing.
Novel writing has slowed a bit the past week. I hope to get back into the swing tomorrow, after company leaves.
Hope everyone is having a fun holiday.
Cheers.
I’m impressed that you manage to juggle and balance your novel writing with short stories – I find I end up doing one or the other.
Sorry to hear about the rejections. You’re more productive than I am.
However, I am glad you received the book. I hope you enjoy it.
I think you’re right, they must be having a bit of a clean out. I just got a rejection from Weird Tales too.
I see that the novel’s word count is still rising. It doesn’t look like it will be to much longer before you have reached your target of 50 000 words.
I’m curious to know if you still have the same amount of enthusiasm for the project now as you did when you started it?
You certainly are putting stuff out there. I really admire all the work you do. Keep plugging away.
AbV:
I’m not really writing both shorts and my novel at the same time. But I do try to keep submitting stories as I’m writing the novel. Yeah, I don’t think I could do both (writes stories and a novel) at the same time either.
Andrea:
Yes, thanks again for the book. I can’t wait to get to it.
Steve:
Sorry about the rejection. I would really like to break into Weird Tales. I just received the new issue, and it looks great.
Also, see the new post for an answer to your question.
Scott:
Thanks so much. I definitely will keep at it.
