A Place of Retro Glory
A few years ago, my friends and I discovered a beacon of retro glory nestled into the woodland backdrop of Lehighton, Pennsylvania. It’s a land beyond time and place, existing in its own alternate reality where the digital world falls away like the desiccated carcass of cicada. You’d be forgiven for thinking I’m talking about the town of Moon Hill. This once though, you’d be wrong.
I’m referring to The Mahoning Drive-in. A place where you’re allowed the privilege of viewing retro movies (very often of the horror persuasion) on the area’s largest outdoor screen, measuring over 120 feet wide. A place where they decorate the concession area for every show. A place where mutants and outcasts gather to celebrate the beautifully absurd.
One day I’ll write a full article about The Mahoning, one worthy of its retro splendor. Today, however, I’m writing only to alert you that I will be selling my wares (along with Todd Keisling, Somer Canon, and others) at this Saturday’s show, August 10th. This weekend is the 2019 Universal Monster Mash. On Saturday, they are showing Frankenstein Meets the Wolf Man (1943) and House of Dracula (1945).
I’ll be selling signed copies of my collection Greetings from Moon Hill as well as a limited supply of the Candy Corn Apocalypse shirt and the Halloween Nights shirt. I believe Todd will also have some Greetings from Moon Hill shirts available, as well as his own signed novels.
If you’re in the area drop by to say hi and see some classic monster movies. We’ll be set up in the concession area.
