First, the good news. Thanks to the twitter competition called #10bythen, (in which the participants try to submit at least 10 stories in a given month) I have received an acceptance.
My story, “When Ayanna Kapoor Waits,” has been accepted to On Spec. I’m really excited to be a part of this very cool magazine, and I can’t wait for the story to come out (sometime in 2011).
Now then, it’s raining acorns. There are a lot of trees around my house, and just stepping outside I run a risk of being “noggined:” The experience of having an acorn fall directly on your head.
It’s happened twice already. I’m prepared to declare a state of emergency. Don’t judge me; those acorns really smart!
Wear a hat, you say? Oh. Yeah, that’s a good idea.
State of emergency over.
ooh, I have acorns in my yard, too; my poor cats aren't even safe on the porch! I'm almost tempted to cut the trees down but…I would feel guilty so I won't. But I wish someone would invent some sort of vacuum to suck the little suckers up!
Congrats on the story! No Acorn problem here. I have no trees in front of my house. (frowns) just busses, cars, trucks oh and airplanes overhead. Nice. (bites back tears). LOL.
Congratulations on the short story acceptance! I don't have an acorn problem, but it sounds like you need to invite some squirrels over to your yard.

If you don't have a hat, you can always just line your umbrella's with some hard-core steel… it will help you build your muscles and protect your writin noggin !!
