Another month has come and gone. It’s been a fairly busy one for me, and even though I got nearly no new writing done, I did get a lot of polishing and editing work done on my novel.
So, some stats:
Query Rejections: 2
*Full Manuscript Request: 1
Still waiting to hear: 1 partial, 2 queries
Consumed double bacon cheeseburgers(with extra bacon): 6
Batches of homemade ice cream: 3
Death threats (made by me): 2
Death threats (for me): 5 and a half. The half is because one was lost in the mail, and the sender mysteriously died in the interim.
Cups of coffee consumed: How do you do the symbol for infinity with a keyboard?
*A note on the full manuscript request. This happened only two days ago. I received a phone call from the agency to request the manuscript.
Like Catherine J Gardner, I wasn’t completely happy with my letter. Some recent comments about my query in a contest seemed to verify that it wasn’t up to par. So when I received the call, I was relieved, happy, and above all else, surprised.
I’ll now enter manuscript purgatory, where I’ll wait for a response. There’s no telling how long it will take, so in the mean time, I’ll write, write, write!
Happy August everyone. Get ready for Halloween. It’s coming.
ooh…a manuscript request…that sounds promising. Fingers crossed. 🙂
Thanks! I'm trying not to jinx myself, but I have a pretty good feeling about it.
Congratulations on the request…good luck with the waiting.
Thanks, Aaron. This is my first attempt at getting an agent, so I'm not sure what to expect in terms of the wait time. I've heard anywhere from 1 – 12 months, from different sources.
You got a phone call from the agency. That's amazing.
Yep, those full requests can run from a week to months.
Thanks 🙂
At least I practiced waiting with all those short story submissions…
I'd say a manuscript via telephone is definitely a good sign. I've never gotten one by phone before.
Thanks, Stephanie. I thought it was a good sign too, but it might just be easier for them since they do their submissions through snail mail.
Eh, who knows.
Congrats on your manuscript request! 🙂
