Around this time of year, I become obsessed with sucking every precious second out of the season. I break out all of my horror movies, including my favorite Halloween specials, such as Garfield’s Halloween, It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, and The Simpsons Tree House of Horrors episodes.
I prepare as many seasonal treats as I can find the time to do: apple pie, pumpkin pie, candy apples, hot apple cider with cinnamon sticks, pumpkin breads and cookies…well, you get the idea.
Of course I have to buy pumpkins to carve out. Roast the seeds.
Oh, the glory!
I have submitted a few more stories, hoping that October will be a lucky month for me.
Also, I joined the ranks of other novel writers for this years NaNoWriMo. I haven’t had much luck in past years, but maybe this is my time. I’ll post the participant logo soon.
Happy October!
Halloween was never an event here when I was growing up. Now that we have so many “commercial” occasions imported from the US, kids suddenly go trick or treating – actually, no, not true, they go treating – and I play the bad old witch and pretend to be out since it’s all totally lost on me!
AH phooey!
Halloween is great. Yeah, it’s used as a scam to sell a crap load of candy, costumes, decorations, and cards, but what holiday isn’t?
Plus, i get to flaunt my love of horror.
Weeeeeeee!
