As I mentioned yesterday, I am taking off my “short story” hat and donning my “novelist” hat, but before I could officially do that, I had to finish editing my last short, “State of the Union,” which I have now done.
I sent this piece to an anthology called City Shadows, being published by Cohort Press
Unfortunately, part of the guidelines requested changing the title to the name of the city it takes place in; so “State of the Union” has become “Manhattan.”
It hurt a bit, having to change the title, because that title suggested something about the theme of my story, but I obliged because, well, I had to.
This anthology will remain open until filled; if anyone else has a dark story based around a city they’d like to submit, do it soon. Also, on the top of the page (link above) there is another anthology they currently are accepting submissions for.
Go to it you horror writing fiends.
Being a political person, the title of your story intrigued me a lot. I agree, that it’d be sad to have to change it.
This one definately has some political undercurrents. I used them in a satric way, trying not to make it too obvious in the writing.
I’ll tell you what, I’m working on a few pieces. I plan to have a few at the ready should I need them in the future.
Nice. I kind of like the idea of having writting on the side, I have a novella and a script from a couple years ago that I finsihed.
The novella sits on the sidelines because it is flawed, being the first thing I had ever written seriously.
The script is a little better, but after trying to find an agent for it and recieving no responses, I decided to let it sit till I got some other stuff published.
Never know.
